If you give them consent, they can search it. If they detain and contact the local police and charge you with theft/shoplifting, then the police can search it. It appears that you gave them consent to search it, which, if you're not guilty of doing anything wrong, you'd have nothing to worry about. If they didn't detain you or charge you with anything, there's really no action that you need to, or should, take.
