Don't you guys get like 7% of the sale. Thats why my friend who works there told me, thats $70 for every $1000. Thats a lot of money.

You guys are always eager to help and you guys are pretty good at stacking the free after rebate offers. Free printer, battery backup, and laptop bag. Surprisingly i never get those rebates its like you guys photoshop them.

Hey Flea person, you should be happy we're shopping at all. With the way the economy is going and the uncertainty in the Middle East, the minds of Americans seems to not care. It's really sad how we're so trap in our bubble that we don't care about anything else going on besides indulging ourselves with products from China.

Does Fry's have a contract with China? i think all of their products are made in China.
I heard from a friend that the Targus bags you sell at Fry's costs 2 dollars to make.

Wow. MorganC, seriously, go away now. You're just posting nonsense.

American consumers should be curbing their purchases because of "uncertainty in the Middle East"? Right, so lets all just stop spending, cause the economy to go into recession, and then we'll see where we're at.

I'm not telling people that they should be spending every penny on crap they don't need, but it's a crazy idea to say that you should basically make bomb shell bunkers and hoard your money...

Also, since when was it even a logical thought that Fry's would have a contract with an entire nation? First, not all products are made in China. Second, how is Fry's any worse than any other store? Fry's carries the exact same products as any other electronics retailer... Does that mean they all have contracts with China too? Wow. Seriously, lay off the smack.

My gawd..... I just realized that I am a cocky customer. When I go to a store to buy an advertised Pioneer DVD burner for $69, and don't see it on the shelf, I shouldn't bother a salesperson to look for it. I should instead buy the Plextor for $199. Abu Harim Apoo will starve if I actually buy what I WANT. How insensitive of me to not spend 4X the amount I expect to.
On the serious side, bud.....why do customers HAVE to "bother" a salesperson for an advertised item 9am the day it goes on sale? Shouldn't they already be out? Or are you too busy doing other things that help your "bait and switch"........errrr I mean your "commission"? Me? I read ads, find what I want for the price I want to pay, and expect to get it. How little or how much pay/commission you make means nothing to me.

Nobody captured you from your native land, put a ball and chain on your ankle, and forced you to work for Frys. Don't like the pay/commission? Do what most people do....FIND A BETTER JOB.

Frys has more than their share of bitter employees........do I care? Not one bit. I give what I get. You treat me civil, and I'll do the same. You treat me friendly, I'll do the same. You cop an attitude with me, or act like I am wasting your precious time.....I will make you look like the fool you are in front of your fellow employees, and quite loudly.

Customers need help. They came in for a product they saw in the ad and they expect to leave the store with it in hand. I think its stupid not to make these products readily available to them.

The accessory sales people are suppose to upsell them to a much higher priced quality product not the commissioned sales people.

The commissioned sales people should focus on higher ticket, higher gross profit, higher commissioned products.Howard Dean for America '08

How long does it take to sell that $3000 item? Make $35 extra to boot? On the clock? Doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. Know how much extra an employee of Walmart makes for selling a $3000 item? Nada. And I'm willing to bet Frys employees make more than the $7 an hr the Walmart employees do.

Think about THAT the next time. Most retail stores no longer offer commissions at all. Be thankful. Every dollar commission you make is "free money".:face-angel:

What sucks is we are on a draw system so if you don't make a minimum amount of commission, you start to owe it back. I couldn't make enough because cameras where I worked usually payed like $0-5 each and I was put in a lower position with a paycut and it sucks.

The whole commision system is designed to motivate sales people. stop pissing off customers, be helpful and courtious and you will sell more. its funny how all the people complaining about pay are the same ones being rude and complaining about customers.

commision of any kind is a bonus. if you cant pay your bills because you didnt make enough money you need to either get better at your job or do somthing else.

ever think that the point of sales ads is to get the customer in the store. so help them find what they came for, smile, and maybe you can get them to buy somthing in addition to it that does pay commision. you dont have to bait and switch, happy customers will buy more stuff.

if fry's lost fewer customers due to rude service then they wouldnt have to cut commision. so when you have a co-worker thats an asshole to customers or steals from the store kick his ass and remind him your pay sucks because of him.

Dont forget to blame managment as well for allowing this kind of stuff to go on so long. id like to sit in on a training session once, i have to believe that this behavior is either encouraged by the managment or there training lectures are being grossly misunderstood by employees.

i agree, commision for those who earn it typically is not a bonus
i am a commission based worker myself and there is a lot of pressure just to meet my monthly minimum to support my lifstyle.

but my point is that frys would do just fine getting rid of commission all together and hire some high school kids of the street for a straight $7 an hour.

the average consumer could care less if it were some high school kid fresh off the street or a commissioned salesperson being rude and uninformative to them. carrying the title sales rep also carries the responibility to know the consumer will expect more from you than the average minimum wage joe.

so for those of you that view customers with questions as burdens just remember that they are part of the reason you get paid commission. your paid to deal with the occasional pain in the ass.
the other part is to make your bosses money but thats another discusion.

for those that do get it.again ...thank you...keep doing what you do.

but the primadona salespeople that think that they are god and all customers with a question are evil you should consider yourself lucky your allowed to make commission in the first place.

I'm looking for a decent gaming laptop around $1500-$1700.... then look at those... pick one out... say you want the 5 year.. and after they got you on that also mention that you are looking for a different one for yourself and then you go cheap.. after you get that one.. say you changed your mind on the gaming piece... but well I think that would just royally piss off the salesperson...Hiya kids. Try working for FRYS ELECTRONICS....then you will see that the commission is NOT great. As a customer, I would have thought the same thing...they make great commission. I work at FRYS because there are no jobs available. Their turnover rate is quick. The pay is terrible. Now we are going to straight commission, not paid hourly. Not all sales people are bad. There ARE some of us that care about the customer. But...keeping in mind...I do need to make money. I don't push off customers or disrespect them, in fact...totally the opposite. I am a people person and love to make people happy. I focus on returns and customers referring me to other customers.

Let me give you an example of the commission: I sold a Macbook item# 6072818 and only made commission of $6. They did not want the warranty. This turns out to be .007 to the dollar. Most people want Windows laptops that pay anywhere from $0 - to $1.10 to $2, $3, $5, $6, $7 or $8 (this is not per dollar, but item). Don't think I saw it more, except those in the red....discontinued, which most people want Windows 7 now. This really is not alot of commission. So we don't make 10%......currently we make .5% to 1%. 0% on sales ads. I still take care of my customer because they are human, give them my business card....they are my advertising. Hopefully, if they are pleased, they will bless me back with referrals.

How it will be with straight commission, I do not know, except that my check will be cut in half. Currently my checks are $485 to $550. I am new. This will now be half that. If we don't make $270 for a week, then we borrow the money from Frys and pay it back when we make more than $270. Frys isn't all wonderful for the salesperson like so many customers think. I am here at Frys because of the economy. I care about people and don't treat them any less because of what I get paid or don't get paid....they are human like me. So not all sales people are bad.

Agreed, not all of Fry's salespeople are bad, or inept. Fry's as a company or organization is borderline corrupt though. What they're doing with their pay change (from hourly to commission) is to do several things - weed out those that are lazy, reduce their overhead, and get people to work more hours for less pay.

I may have to agree with Guest on this. You only make commission when you can sell. Many frys employees do not know how to sell or have knowledge about the products they attempt to sell.

If you try to ask them about warranty....they say " I wan dat one, I wan dat one....No Warranty....Sony Warranty 1 year....The next week...they returned it.....They always do that....I think they don't have a soul or something. Share the wealth? Ok, like that is ever going to happen. I will believe when Pelosi shares her wealth. I know that they are not taking any federal tax out this year for people that only make so much, but how is that going to work at tax time? I figure one, we end up paying or two our tax return will be nothing. And to add to the problem California is going to be borrowing from the us that live in here. I forget the percentage but the state won't pay us back till next year in the spring, but most likely they will extend it to a later time, without interest. I hate government, its so fucked up.

You are not likely to get much inflation for a while. The solution to the national debt is simple: Print more money. This is really true and works when everyone else in the world (with the notable exception of China) is in a steep recession. If you print more money to pay debt and other countries are doing okay, then you get inflation (collapse of the dollar), but if you print more money when everyone else is in the tank, then it doesn't matter. National debt (the cause of inflation in "normal" economic times) isn't that important so long as everyone (countries) is in the same soup. It's just about macroeconomics.

That's the whole point of inflation. When you print more money the value of the US dollar goes down. When there is less of something its gonna be more expensive. Just like with the diamonds. If De Beers didn't own all the monopoly on diamonds they would be a whole lot less. They cost so much because they only release very few each year. If they just released all of them they diamonds would just as cheap as CZs. If you are going to invest in gems, invest in Tanzanite.
