Fry's employee discount

What exactly is the Fry's employee discount?

Is it really 90% off the gross profit of the product. It just seems like there are exceptions, exclusions, or other flakiness.

Depends on the G.P. on the item you are looking for...some are good some don't take nothing...i would recommend going to A/V speakers, headphones, ect have high G.P..:)

its using 4 fingers instead of five

you mean using 1 finger instead of 5 because the discount is worthless.

Also, you can't combine discounts. For example, you cannot use AP and a free item promotion at the same time.

but AP implies you wish to pay 10% above the wholesale price

dunno why alot of people "want to hear themselves talk" with all the lame remarks rather than just giving a straight answer.

Most of what we said was relevant to the topic, which is good enough on the internet.

I find AP useful. Just bought a nice pair of Polks and used it all of my AP on them.

Must be a very stupid employee because after all everyone knows that laptops there was barely ever any Ap on them..

Theres not enough profit to give ap on laptops. Don't even ask.

If you are into porn then your AP will work well in that department. You get around 50% off the purchase price!

Mostly non-name brand accessories to things and the stuff in Audio usually give great discounts with AP. I've also seen LG Screens in computers / External CD & DVD drives as well give some decent AP discount.

AP on high end cables is usually very high. I saved like thirty dollars off the last one I bought.

Some of the newest model TV's for can save you hundreds of dollars. You can get high end cables for half price. That's for starters, check it out for yourself. Some AP sucks, but not all.

You can see how much AP you have used, thus finding out how much you have left. You have $500 in usable discounts when you first start at frys. This is reset in November. After one year at frys the discount is increased to $750. I think after the 3rd year its either $1000 or 1500.

Ask a sup or someone who has been at frys for a while. In the POS there is a way to find out how much you have used. If I had the POS in front of me I could tell you the steps but I don't.

Just find an item with ridiculous markup and see how much AP takes off before depletion.

The system lies at times. Kenneth Cole laptop bags are a key example of this. I sold one the other day and looked up my commission on the item. On that screen it shows the true cost of an item, and the bag's cost was $17. However if you enter AP on the item, it drops the bag go about 36, instead of the 20 or so it should be. If you want to see how accurate the AP actually is, look up your commission, write down the cost, then apply AP to that item. More times than not, it's no where near 10% above cost like it's supposed to be.

Also, you can't combine discounts. For example, you cannot use AP and a free item promotion at the same time.

That's not true. If an item has a promotional discount you can combine the two if you do it from one of the customer service POS's. You do the AP up there, then apply the promotional discount. It will add the two discounts together. Those are the only computers in the store where it will allow you to do that. You're not supposed to do it, but it can be done from those computers.
