I am thinking of applying part time at a store in Los Angeles (Valley area). How much does a top salesman make in computer or home theater an hour? I have read a couple threads about how bad the commission structure is now, but is it really that bad?

Top salesmen make easily over $1000 each week in each of those departments.

$52k/yr isn't bad for selling laptops/tvs in a retail store.

Well officially, I'm making $15/hour, but after taking into consideration of "overtime," it's more along the lines of $12 - 13.50/hour.

But this is coming from someone who isn't really attaching PSCs at a rate of 25%, so it's ok. Beats working at a dead-end job like MickyD's, but working here is literally like selling your soul to the devil aha

Relative to other retail companies, yes he is serious. Now compared to a real job, obviously not.

I would think you could subtract 30% from whatever a salesperson TELLS you they are making. What? You think they only BS the customers?

About 95 percent of the people here have been employed by Fry's in the past or currently. We know how much we all make, and nothing here seems like a stretch to me.

From what I know in my store...

    All #s are Full Time
    D1 average: $350-$400 commission + $300 hourly/week
    D1 Top: $500-$600 commission + $300 hourly
D2 average $450-$650 commission, no hourly
D2 top $1000-$1100 commission, no hourly

I think D5 is about the same as D2 except it's more top heavy. D7 is all over the board. Apparently only MTs make money in D7 because they can sell anything.
