The computer department keeps you off clock and doesnt let you go home unless you get frys cards. The management there is horrible. They force their employees into commission sales and then fire them if they dont make the goals and they dont get paid hourly!

is it legal to make them work off the clock?

what state is it in? I know that in California it is illegal to make you work off the clock. that paper you sign when you pick up your check basically says you were not asked to work off the clock and if you are to report it to management.

I work at a Fry's. All the stores treat their employees like shit. Every fucking thing in the store or employee use (break room stuff) is broken and will never be fixed or replaced. We get written up and fired for not ripping off customers (AV salesmen are required to sell Monster cables at least 50% of the time) cashiers are encouraged to BS customers into signing up for that fucking ridiculous line of credit (29% APR) and only 700ish items in the store even qualify for financing and those change every 30 days. But yes, Randy Fry and Charlie The Chip need to burn in Hell.

Not all stores are like that. Some stores are pretty laidback, depending on the situation. Luckily here, there isn't that much focus on MONSTER attachments, but Fry's card and wireless are getting a big push. Still, depending on the are you are in, it can be impossible to sell something. How the fuck is it reasonable to ask us to get Fry's cards and wireless when the good majority of our customers have American Express (every now and then a black), and their own IT department xD

they threaten to fire us if we dont hit our goals
    when its not even busy
no customers = no money, no frys cards.

especially towards the holiday season, everyone is waiting for black friday and what not

there has been days where people have opened from 8am and closed till 9am because of no frys cards

I've watched as many a company has gone down in flames with that sort of thinking. Sooner or later, the bad press, and state and federal investigations bring down those companies.

Sooner, rather than later, state AG's and state/federal labor departments will bring Fry's to an end.
