Fry's Doesn't Care About It's Employees Or Customers! All they care about is making money!

Date of Incident: Every Tuesday Night

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing to let you know about ongoing issue at my store. Every Tuesday when we are closing we do our TSR, do the price changes and put the product away from carts and go backs. We roughly finish around 11:00 PM – 11:30 PM which is a perfect time for us to finish and leave but that is not the case. We have Sam Mikelic the Assistant Manager of our store walk our dept and he goes into scrutinizing us about everything. He complains about every little detail from the signs specs and he wants every little thing the computer has on the sign. He basically wants the whole dept perfect. He walks us and we don't pass so then he leaves walks and us and we don't pass again. As you can see we don't leave any time soon because he is so picky. This isn't a onetime incident, its every Tuesday that we close with Sam. When we finally meet his standards of ready we end up leaving around 1:00 AM. This is just ridiculous for a time to get off from work considering we have been at work since 2:00 PM. Some of the closing employees also have to open the next morning. I have talked to many other employees and many of them are also upset and mad just like I am. Those of those with families also suffer as we get yelled at for coming home so late. The closing shift should not be responsible for sign errors and other things that can fixed throughout the day. Something has to be done we have plenty of time during the day. I wish to remain anonymous because I want my privacy.

    Sincerely,

You really think it is ok to sched someone till 1130 and not let them out till 1am forcing them into overtime when it is against their will. There is a lot of BS at Fry's, but this is something that is WAY out of line. It happens at our store regularly, and no one gives a shit about it, as a salesperson I think it is fucked up for them to keep us when we are drawing the whole fucking time for what? To do something a recovery team should be doing?

Frys is run by Jews.....Jews before the rise of Hitler treated the German people like slaves since Jews owned a huge part of the means of production before the rise of the National Socialists (the Nazis). One day either Fry's employees or some govt agency is going to say, "ENOUGH". I think this is the main reason Fry's wants to stay private to avoid the public spotlight.

I recently bought a LCD TV from the Campbell (CA) store. I had to wait for them to bring the TV up front, and was standing near the guy who checks people's receipts. Well an employee was leaving for the day and he had to open his jacket for the guy. That's odd I think to myself, but it wasn't anything crazy. Then a few minutes later another employee leaves. He just bought one of those Sonicare toothbrushes. The security guy made him take it out of the bag, and then proceeded to cut open the box to inspect it. I was floored. How humiliating, I would DESPISE working in a place that distrusts you so much. Plus, if an employee was going to steal something, why would he BUY an expensive toothbrush, only to painstakingly open the box, put something inside it, then carefully seal the box so it looked like it hadn't been opened? It's way easier to just put something in your pants or something. Their policy MAKES NO SENSE (yes I understand some employees steal). I will shop harder to find something at another store next time.

Yeah, it's pretty retarded. Think about the money they're spending for the facade of security.

There's no security to protect these assets other than getting higher pay. The information is worth more than your actual salary.

Well I worked at Fry's for about three years and let me tell you how I feel about it. The first year was not bad because it was a learning experience and everything you do just seems to be so exciting and fun and you're actually happy to go to work. Then after your first year working at Fry's everything start to go down-hill from there. You start to loose interest going to work and it's not as fun as it used to be. Why? A lot of it has to do with the unrealistically high expectations from an employee who may or may not be there as a full time employee. The high expectation start off with the Fry's cards. Those things aren't easy to get and sometimes you would see the same customers who you've already asked so the pool of customers who you've already asked or already own a Fry's card is limited and the rest of the customers just don't care and don't want one. How do I know? I used to work there and the customers told me themselves in their own words "I don't want one." Of course there are more high expectations in other departments, especially computers because they have so many components to sell like psc, wireless and other stuff.

Other thing that gets on my nerves is the supervisors keep telling the sales associates to "sale sale sale" to make money but yet they keep giving us ridiculous tasks like schematics, doing the top stocks tsr or sometimes they will even send us to the back to receiving to help plu the incoming products while there are lots of customers walking around. They make you do things that aren't in your contract per se like they make you go help out customer service in the returns and one time I was stuck there literally for 80% of my shift. The scheduling is ridiculous because they want to cut back on hours to pay you less so they would make you do a closing shift that start at 5pm instead of 2pm or the usual 2:30pm so that way you don't hit overtime pay and they can keep you back as long as 12am or even 1am. That to me is very cheap.

Of all the things that I hate, it's not that I hate working there because I did find it exciting at one point but after working for the supervisors for awhile I would have to say that the untrained incompetent supervisors is what ultimately did me in. I couldn't stand working for a supervisor who I felt is inferior to me intellectually. A few of the supervisors I've worked for are the laziest and incompetent people I've ever met. Most of the time I wonder how they ever got picked to be a supervisor in the first place. They can turn in a form requesting to be one, but if they're lazy and incompetent I wouldn't hire or promote them to that position. It's just common sense. This just means that Fry's doesn't care about their employees but themselves so if anything goes wrong it's the lazy incompetent supervisors who will take the fall. Wise move or cruel move by Fry's? You decide. I've worked there for about three years so I've seen it happen. So many good supervisors getting fired just so that a bad one would replace them. It's not just the supervisors but the managers as well. I've seen a few good managers get fired only to be replaced by incompetent ones. All of the things that I've experienced and gone through ultimately made the job not fun anymore and if an employee is not enjoying their job then they won't be productive.

Overall I don't have anything bad to say about Fry's or any hatred toward them but if there is one thing I wish could be different is start hiring more competent supervisors. I don't hate Fry's because they did offer me a job, I just hate the people working there and it start with the management. I'm glad I got out of there.

To sum it all up just watch this Youtube video regarding this matter:
